In questo libretto si danno dei suggerimenti per la formazione del seminarista, nel suo momento finale quando è vicino all'ordinazione. Secondo me per questo è bene valorizzare non un teorico, un teologo o un uomo spirituale, ma un buon prete che è ben inserito nella società e nella Chiesa; mi pare un messaggio di enorme buon senso!

Questa formazione che propongo si chiama "supervisione" e la si impara dai servizi sociali italiani e qui la si studia perché possa essere applicata al mondo della pastorale.

La lettura di queste note suggerisce alle piccole diocesi di non esagerare nella loro dipendenza da buoni teologi fatti venire sovente da fuori diocesi. Le chiese locali piccole sono invitate a valorizzare di più i buoni preti che esse posseggono, preti che grazie alla supervisione, diventano capaci di riflettere sul loro lavoro, a comporre meglio la teoria con la pratica e quindi successivamente a insegnare.

Le riflessioni qui contenute suggeriscono, infine, alle scuole di teologia e alle facoltà teologiche di farsi maggiormente carico degli allievi offrendo loro da subito, fin dal primo giorno di studi teologici, un tutor. È anche un modo per prendere di più sul serio il concreto far pastorale cui sono destinati.

In questo momento storico di grandi e urgenti riflessioni sui servizi richiesti ai sacerdoti e quindi di appelli perché mutino i servizi richiesti loro finora, è assolutamente vincente la nascita di questa figura, un prete di riferimento che è, e rimane fondamentalmente, un buon prete, un fratello, un amico e non un superiore.

The Supervision of Pastoral Care

This booklet gives pointers for the education of the seminarist, in the final stage of his ordination. In my opinion, it is good to value not just a theorist, a theologian or a spiritual man, but a good priest who is well integrated in both society and the Church; it seems to me a message of utmost common sense!
The training I propose is called 'supervision', it is learned from the Italian social services and studied here so that it can be applied to the world of pastoral care.
The reading of these notes suggests to small dioceses not to exaggerate in their dependence on good theologians often brought in from outside the diocese. Local parishes and small churches are encouraged to make better use of the good priests they possess, priests who, through supervision, become capable of reflecting on their work, better combining theory with practice and thus better teaching.
Ultimately, the considerations herein contained suggest that theological schools and faculties should take more responsibility for their students by offering them a tutor from day one of their theological studies. It is also a way to take more seriously the actual pastoral work they are meant to do.
