Illustrated Books Series - Travel Notebooks
Although it is the smallest region in Italy, Valle d’Aosta has as many as 120 castles. For this reason, it has been defined as the most fortified region in Italy and Europe.
The author followed an itinerary that starts from Pont Saint Martin and reaches the foot of Mont Blanc, the highest mountain in Europe, the same route that foreign travelers of the 18th and 19th centuries, engaged in the Grand Tour, traveled.
An itinerary rich in important historical memories, but also in mysteries and popular legends.
Following the course of the Dora river, one cannot escape the sight of its imposing castles, often positioned on rocks that seem inaccessible and, precisely for this reason, shrouded in an aura of charm and mystery.
In this volume, the most significant ones have been considered, both from a historical and scenic point of view.
The author Toni Spagone, a member of the order of journalists since 1997, is a partner of the photojournalistic agency Realy Easy Star. He is the author and creator of several internationally successful books, including “Immagini di una Torino da vivere” and “La Sindone e i luoghi della fede in Piemonte”. He publishes his reports, especially on travel and landscape, in the most prestigious national and international magazines, thanks to his collaboration with the London agency Alamy. He is a scholar of esotericism, symbolism, and oriental disciplines and, with Lisianthus Publishing House, has published the book “Talismani - il Futuro Illuminato”.
In creating his photographs, he always seeks particular atmospheres that evoke deep emotions, stimulating imagination and reflection.
He is the artistic director of Lisianthus Editore.
